Global superstar and country legend Lyle Lovett will be inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, the organization announced Tuesday.
The new class also includes Shawn Camp and Lee Thomas Miller, both elected in the contemporary songwriter category, and Bruce Channel as the veteran songwriter. They will be formally inducted during the 56th Anniversary Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame Gala later this year.
Swift, the 14-time Grammy Award winning artist, is elected in the contemporary songwriter/artist category. She’s known for writing many of her own hits since launching her career in Nashville as a preteen. Those include her country singles 鈥淭eardrops On My Guitar鈥� and 鈥淟ove Story,鈥� as well as her blockbuster pop hits 鈥淏lank Space,鈥� 鈥淎nti-Hero,鈥� and 鈥淐ruel Summer.鈥� She became the into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in June.
Lovett is elected in the veteran songwriter/artist category. He started his career in the folk scene before finding success for his clever lyricism and innovative country-Americana songs like 鈥淪he’s No Lady,鈥� 鈥淐owboy Man,鈥� 鈥淕ive Back My Heart,鈥� 鈥淲hy I Don鈥檛 Know,鈥� 鈥淕od Will鈥� and more.
Camp began as a fiddle player for Shelby Lynne, Trisha Yearwood and others in the 鈥�80s before becoming a hit songwriter. His credits include Garth Brooks鈥� 鈥淭wo Pi帽a Coladas,鈥� Brooks & Dunn’s 鈥淗ow Long Gone鈥� and 鈥淎 Beautiful Time.鈥�
Miller’s hits include Terri Clark’s 鈥淚 Just Wanna Be Mad,鈥� Trace Adkins’ 鈥淵ou’re Gonna Miss This,鈥� Tim McGraw’s 鈥淣othin’ To Die For鈥� and 鈥淪outhern Girl,鈥� Chris Stapleton’s 鈥淲hiskey And You鈥� and many songs for Brad Paisley, including 鈥淭he World.鈥�

The Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame executive director Mark Ford made the announcement inside Belmont University鈥檚 R. Milton and Denice Johnson Center.
